Community Clay Date is intended to create a space for you to explore your relationship with your hands and the wonderful material, clay, within your community. For July we will be making miniature abstract sculptures.
This is a 2-hour handbuilding class for ALL levels - no experience required. And yes, you are creative enough to participate.
To promote relationship-building with self and to minimize distractions while maximizing creative capacity, the only tools we will use in class are our hands and basic tools.
This class will be instructed, but loosely, to allow individual creative expression; this space is where support and freedom meet.
In this class we will be using a rich red clay body from New Mexico.
Pieces made in the session will not be glazed (not food-safe), but they will be precious.
Pieces made in the session will be fired and ready for pick-up within 3 weeks. You will have 2 weeks to pick-up your piece in the Southtown area (more info on that later).
Each ticket covers the price for one person to attend class. Class is for those 18 years of age and up. (If you want to bring a young one they are definitely welcome and please email me ahead of time so I know; they will require their own ticket).
Materials and firings are included in the price - simply show up!
