Community Clay Date is intended to create a space to explore your relationship with your hands and the wonderful material, clay, in a community space. The theme of the class will coordinate with the current exhibit at Mercury Project - for January we will be exploring our dreams and creating from that space. You can sculpt an object from a dream you had or perhaps from a dream you wish to realize this new year.
This is a 2-hour handbuilding class for ALL levels - no experience required. And yes, you are creative enough to participate.
To promote relationship-building with self and to minimize distractions while maximizing creative capacity, the only tools we will use in class are our hands and basic tools.
This class will be instructed, but loosely, to allow individual creative expression; this space is where support and freedom meet.
In this class you will make a sculpture based off of a dream, either one you had or one you wish to realize.
Pieces made in the session will not be glazed (not food-safe), but they will be precious.
Pieces made in the session will be fired and ready for pick-up within 3 weeks of the play date. More details on location and hours will be emailed once pieces are ready.
Each ticket covers the price for one person to attend class. Class is for those 18 years of age and up. (If you want to bring a young one, please email me ahead of time so I know; they will require their own ticket).
Materials and firings are included in the price - simply show up!
