Community Clay Date is intended to create a space for you to explore your relationship with your hands and the wonderful material, clay, with your community. The theme of the class will coordinate with the current exhibit at Mercury Project - for March we will be honoring the power of both our dark and our light sides with the use of black clay and white clay.
This is a 2-hour handbuilding class for ALL levels - no experience required. And yes, you are creative enough to participate.
The class will open with a short artist talk from the current exhibiting artist.
To promote relationship-building with self and to minimize distractions while maximizing creative capacity, the only tools we will use in class are our hands and basic tools.
This class will be instructed, but loosely, to allow individual creative expression; this space is where support and freedom meet.
In this class we will be using a black clay and a white clay to create a small sculpture.
Pieces made in the session will not be glazed (not food-safe), but they will be precious.
Pieces made in the session will be fired and ready for pick-up and the next month’s Community Clay Date, ticket not required for pick-up.
Each ticket covers the price for one person to attend class. Class is for those 18 years of age and up. (If you want to bring a young one they are definitely welcome and please email me ahead of time so I know; they will require their own ticket).
Materials and firings are included in the price - simply show up!
Class is located at Mercury Project - 538 Roosevelt Ave, SATX, 78210
Purchase is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
